Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then discovered many other smeared cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for information.

A high-ranking official said the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack five years ago," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
