The Iconic Puzzle Game Wouldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type Might Solve This

As any major honors show draws close, one notices a demand for the addition fresh award types to honor overlooked contributions and satisfy the hearts of followers with niche passions.

A fellow writer made the case for a horror game category. That would rule. The same goes for tabletop games, this being a dedicated supporter's campaign. But they will have to forgive me when I prioritize just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, I possess a compelling case supporting my request is the most urgent and important of all. Here's the proposal: We need a category for puzzle games.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Categorizing art by genre is not a science; it’s very subjective, and it will always spark debates and end in fuzzy definitions. It's understandable that cinema institutions avoid this approach. However, it represents a necessary evil within the realm of gaming, that demonstrate such variety they barely qualify a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of interactive entertainment excellence to be recognized, and for games of all stripes to have a chance for representation, specific award classifications remain vital.

Current Gaming Award Categories

The major gaming awards presently include award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these six categories successfully include numerous genres, making space possible for numerous titles.

Not so for brain-teasing titles. No suitable classification appears to accommodate them. Examine these examples from recent excellent titles, each quite distinct: structural challenges from a specific release, the pulse-pounding block-matching of another game, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles in another game. Where could they possibly go within current classifications? Nowhere, that’s where.

The Representation Problem

Numerous examples exist of brilliant puzzle games launched regularly without proper recognition in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match for categories like Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, and the highly challenging small studio competitions.

  • A renowned logic title received no recognition completely during that awards season
  • Another imaginative release was excluded during that ceremony
  • A beloved organization game received no acknowledgment recently
  • Limited numbers of logic titles scraped into niche award types

Value of Brain-Teasers

Frequently they represent small games, yet the craft behind logic titles is of massive significance. Famous handheld logic titles stand as most engaged experiences worldwide and have been for many years.

The famous puzzle experience challenges well-known building titles for the title of highest-selling title ever; it’s also in the running for top gaming experience. Puzzle games are foundational for gaming as medium, and they are in conversation across multiple categories.

The Solution and Justification

Logic titles wouldn't face such difficulty. It would be easy to populate five nominees with fascinating, diverse, deserving games annually without trouble — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences.

Restating the point, these are games that otherwise have no home at major gaming awards. Logic title developers are working at the demanding boundary interactive creation, developing some of essential manifestations within interactive entertainment. Comparable to movie stunt professionals, they deserve recognition. We shouldn't delay generations.
